NEW YORK, NY, September 23, 2008 - In light of developments in the credit markets, the CFO Group has added a new panel CFO Rising West scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, October 13-17. The panel will explain what these dramatic changes mean for companies seeking credit in this environment on Thursday, October 16, 2008. Confirmed panelists include Murray Beach, managing director, TM Capital Corp., Robert J. Graves, partner and banking and finance practice co-chair at Jones Day, and Surjit Rajpay, executive managing director of BMO Capital Markets. Steven Mintz, the deputy editor of CFO magazine, will moderate.
In addition, both keynote speakers at the conference put recent events in perspective and offer insights into what the future may hold. Bill Emmott, former editor-in-chief, of The Economist, explains the global outlook in his October 15 address: "Morning in America, Again--An Outsider's View on the Economy, the Election, and America's Place in the World." Former comptroller general David Walker will have 700 billion new reasons to push his "Fiscal Wake-up Tour" when he addresses the CFO audience on Thursday, October 16 on "Why Saving Our Future Requires Tough Choices Today."
CFO Rising West, which will be held at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort, will bring together finance executives from across the country to discuss the current banking crisis and other pressing issues facing corporate finance departments. In addition to the new content, CFO Rising will offer case studies presented by executives from major corporations, including Cisco Systems Inc. The Pepsi Bottling Group Inc., Applebee's International, and AT&T Mobility. There will also be panels on issues of importance to CFOs, including a discussion of skill-building with a panel of executive recruiters; best practices in finance training, featuring panelists form GE, Coca-Cola, and Johnson & Johnson; and a look at IFRS, the international accounting standards.
