False Regrets

Per the article: "We regret the past activities that led to these charges", said KPMG chairman Timothy P. Flynn in a statement, according to Bloomberg. I believe that the chairman only has regrets insofar as KPMG was caught providing illegal tax shelter advice. Had the Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant firm not been caught, there would have been the continuation of the illegal practices by KPMG given that ethics training and practice in the CPA and CA training programs and within the Big Four public accounting firms is extremely weak (if in existence at all). Additionally, right wing individuals tend to have a lower ethical mindset relative to non-right wing individuals.
