Thank you for your comment — you are right. Because of an editing error, the original headline of this article "Fewer Companies Paying Dividends" was incorrect. It has been changed to reflect the fact that it is the rate of dividend increases that has slowed.

Mr. Taub is guilty of Washington speak. In fact, more companies are paying higher dividends--clearly outlined in his article. The rate of increase in dividend payments and dividend increases appears to be slowing based on the percentages mentioned in the article but the article's headline is patently false and I don't know why CFO would publish it given the article's content.
