Just about everyone, it seems, is being held to blame for the financial meltdown. But what role auditors played, if any, is far from clear.
Alix Stuart, CFO Magazine

The auditor is brought along to assess the financial statements and health of an organization especially when it is going through distress. However, there should be an auditor of the auditors. A supreme council which monitors the auditors and make sure that standards are established throughout the fraternity. Subjectivity in stating the true health of the accounts should be minimised by this council.
