IFRS

It is really interesting to me that IFRS is not on the radar screen. If you asked the same question in Canada IFRS would be high on the list since it has been mandated for "publicly accountable enterprises"for years beginning on or after January 1 2011. Even then the state of implementation is not as high as could be expected. I have just started a public Blog on IFRS implementation: http://ifrscanadadevilisinthedetails.blogspot.com/. I am very interested in getting information from those CFOs for whom IFRS is a concern in the USA. I heard that there were quite a number of booths offering IFRS implementation services at the recent FEI Conference in the USA.

Cost of Health Care moving up

CFO's need to become more engaged in decision making process surrounding health care benefits. If you are simply spreadsheeting quotes, you have no chance of ever managing costs. If you want to learn what's driving your cost, you have to understand the process. Go to: www.youhaveanuglybaby.com or get the book. This is one hour that will change the way you see your role in managing benefit costs.

IFRS

Great question! We are certainly writing about it and hearing about it, too (see the April cover story), but CFOs responding to the survey seem pretty unconcerned. We continue to ask about it each quarter but it is still scoring very low and is well out of the top 10. Maybe people still think it is so far off it's not worth worrying about yet? Maybe people don't think it will be a big deal? Or maybe it just doesn't seem as significant as some of these other issues? It will be interesting to see if IFRS climbs into the top 10 sometime in the next year. We'll keep you posted.
