CFOs on the Move: Week Ending January 11

Alcoa Inc. has promoted William Oplinger to the top finance spot, effective April 1. He takes over from Charles McLane Jr., who is retiring after 40 years at the company. Currently, Oplinger is chief operating officer of Alcoa’s global primary products division, a post he has held since December 2011.

CFO Scott Cooley plans to leave his job at Morningstar Inc. sometime this year. Cooley, who joined the company 17 years ago and has been finance chief since 2007, is expected to stay on until his successor is named.

Online travel company Orbitz Worldwide Inc. has announced that Mitch Marcus has resigned as finance chief after two months at the firm. David Belmont, who was interim CFO before Marcus was hired, will take on that role once again.

The National Basketball Assn. has appointed Jason Cahilly to head finance. Previously, he was a partner and global co-head of media and telecommunications in the investment-banking division of Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

Gary Shankman has been named to the top finance spot at Serco Inc., which provides technology, management, and professional services to the federal government. Formerly, he was CFO of the defense solutions group at Science Applications International Corp.

Evan Price has been appointed to lead the finance function at children’s clothing company Gymboree Corp. Most recently, he was vice president of finance at Gap North America.

Seedling-products supplier ArborGen has selected Richard Eisenstadt to head finance. He is a former CFO of Tranzyme Pharma.

Univar Inc. has named D. Beatty D’Alessandro as its next finance chief. He succeeds Steven Nielsen, who is resigning effective January 15. D’Alessandro comes to the industrial and specialty chemicals distributor from Graybar, where he was chief information officer and, most recently, CFO.

B. Clyde Preslar will take over as CFO of convenience-store chain The Pantry Inc., effective February 7. He currently heads finance at RailAmerica Inc.

Plastics company GSE Holding Inc. has named J. Michael Kirksey to lead the finance function. Most recently, he was CFO of Endeavour International Corp.
