Daimler Truck’s CFO, Jochen Goetz, has died in a “tragic incident,” according to the company in a statement on Sunday. There is no further information on the details of what took place.
Goetz, 52, spent his entire professional career of more than 36 years with the Daimler group.
"He played a key role in shaping today's Daimler Truck company and, as CFO, consistently worked to ensure that the company is now more economically successful than ever before," Chief Executive Martin Daum said.
Goetz is credited with having been “decisively responsible for the successful spin-off of Daimler Truck Holding AG from today’s Mercedes-Benz Group AG in December 2021.”
According to colleagues, Goetz had just given a successful presentation. "Just a few days ago, he convincingly and confidently presented the successful financial development of 'his company' to the supervisory board,” said Joe Kaeser, supervisory board head and former Siemens leader.
Goetz also gave the keynote speech at Handelsblatt CFO Summit last month in Düsseldorf.
He leaves behind a wife and two children.
