• The merger of the New York Stock Exchange and Archipelago leaves room for one fewer chief financial officer. Amy Butte, a former division finance chief at Credit Suisse Group, is resigning as the Big Board’s CFO, effective May 31. Nelson Chai, CFO of Chicago-based Archipelago, will assume the top finance job at the merged company.
• Richard A. Byers resigned as vice president and acting chief financial officer of CB&I, a construction company based in The Woodlands, Texas. The resignation puts on hold the plans of Richard E. Goodrich, whose retirement was scheduled for February 13; Goodrich will stay on as acting CFO while the company searches for a permanent finance chief.
• Clear Channel Communications Inc. chief financial officer Randall T. Mays took on the additional role of president. Mays has served as a director of the San Antonio-based media company since 1999.
• Network security specialist Symantec Corp. named James Beer executive vice president and chief financial officer. Beer joined the Cupertino, California-based company from AMR Corp., parent of American Airlines, where he spent 15 years and was CFO since 2003.
• TRC, an environmental and infrastructure specialist to institutional customers, named Carl Paschetag Jr. chief financial officer. He will assume the role in April upon the retirement of current finance chief Harold Elston. Paschetag joined the Windsor, Connecticut-based company earlier this month from Clean Harbors Inc., where he worked since 1997 in roles including vice president, treasurer, and controller.
• Automotive supplier Collins & Aikman Corp. named Tim Trenary executive vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer. Trenary joined the Troy, Michigan-based company in September as vice president and treasurer; he served as CFO of James Cable Partners from 1991 to 2000.
• Digital media company RealNetworks Inc. promoted vice president of finance Michael Eggers to senior vice president and chief financial officer. Eggers, who joined the Seattle-based company in 1997 as manager of finance, succeeds Roy Goodman, who will remain at the company assisting with treasury, investor relations, and other finance functions.
• Nashville-based Gaylord Entertainment Co., operator of the Grand Ole Opry, named Rich Maradik chief information officer, reporting to chief financial officer David Kloeppel.
