Job Description
Purpose of Role
The Wealth Management Compliance Team consists of senior compliance officers who are responsible for advising a broad network of branch offices, as well as the different functional units within the wealth management division.
The compliance team works closely with management, sales, trading, operations, technology and other areas to help ensure that Wealth Management’s high net worth business complies with firm policies and procedures as well as the requirements of regulatory authorities, including the SEC, FINRA, MSRB and state securities regulators.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide real-time compliance coverage to Wealth Management’s high net worth brokerage activities and investment advisory units.
- Work closely with Wealth Management’s legal and business control groups to interpret and execute various regulatory and compliance issues and projects.
- Draft, revise and implement a compliance manual and supervisory manuals.
- Advise Wealth Management, sales, and other corporate groups on day to day transactions issues as well as on strategic initiatives.
- Work on regulatory exams, handle requests for information, and liaise with other departments on any compliance related matters.
- Conduct in-house reviews to test compliance policies and procedures and coordinate follow-up action by affected departments. Also, liaise with FINRA, SRO, and Federal and State regulatory agencies during examinations of the Wealth Management division.
- Monitor and research new regulatory developments and requirements and propose and execute solutions to help ensure firm compliance with new requirements.
The Compliance Officer VP should have a bachelor’s degree and five to ten years of experience working with high net worth wealth management or retail compliance. Regulatory experience or experience working at a medium to large sized financial services firm are a plus. The individual in this role should demonstrate strong written and analytical skills as well as the ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple projects.
