VP - Accounting Policy

Job Description
International financial institution is seeking to add a senior financial professional to its controllers staff.
This individual will be responsible for providing accounting policy theory and application under GAAP and IFRS to ensure proper reporting for the head office as well as all regulatory bodies. This includes:
-Interpreting, developing and communicating proper adherence to
accounting standards and requirements.
-Monitor changes made by the FASB and IASB and evaluate impact
to related businesses.
-Design and deliver technical training for new accounting
requirements.
-Review complex transactions with the front office to achieve
proper accounting results.
-Liaise with head office, auditors and regulators regarding all
accounting policy issues.
-Function as key expert regarding all technical accounting advice.
The ideal candidate will be a CPA and have a minimum of 10 years experience with several years in public accounting. Must have strong technical accounting background and a track of interpreting and applying FASB and IFRS reporting requirements. Bank product exposure is strongly preferred, ie capital markets, structured finance, retail.
This is a hands-on role with global exposure so excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of management are critical.
