Director Mortgage Underwriting - NW Region (MetLife Home Loans)

Job Summary:

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the daily operations within a specific Region or for a business line.

• Responsible for the ongoing development and review of all Regional Credit policy aspects of loan product guidelines.

• Recommend updates and changes to policies and procedures and ensure the department is in compliance with those policies and procedures.

• Perform periodic audits on underwriter’s decisions and underwriting queues.

• Maintain an ongoing and thorough knowledge of the loan process including a complete understanding of all processes and systems; liaison with Sales and Operations to resolve customer service and operational issues; assures that the credit quality of the portfolio remains within standards established

Job Requirements

• 10+ years in the mortgage industry within the underwriting field with 4-5 years leading people/projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s preferred.

• Thorough knowledge of all guidelines, and should be familiar with the underwriting systems.

• Ability to interpret guidelines and make sound business decisions.

• Must understand the Broker/RM/Wholesale relationship and work with the Broker and RM to develop and enhance the relationship.

• Strong understanding of business initiatives and ability to integrate corporate-wide underwriting and business knowledge into broader based strategies.

The hired candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without an employer-sponsored petition for a visa, such as an H-1B visa. MetLife does not intend to file any visa applications in connection with this opening.
