SEC: No Help Needed from Congress

Grilling the assembled members of the Securities and Exchange Commission about Sarbanes-Oxley, Barney Frank just took the time to note "I feel compelled by the spirit of bipartisanship to come to the defense of the Republican president and the Republican Congress that passed [Sarbanes-Oxley]."

Less tongue-in-cheek, however, he then polled each commissioner: "Is there any need for Congress to address the act with legislative action?"

The answer, from each commissioner, in a nutshell, was "No, the problem was 404, and we think we've fixed it."

Those of you who are less sure can take some comfort in Commissioner Paul Atkins, who said he's anxiously awaiting the comments on AS5. Now's your chance to send 'em in, folks.
