CFOs Wanted: Controllers Need Not Apply Why companies often won't consider controllers when choosing their next finance chiefs.

These are conservative times

As an Executive Search Consultant living and working in Alaska, I could not agree with the statements in this article more. When it comes to a Controller, Super-Controller, or CFO who wants to attempt a career move in this current hiring climate, he or she needs to know that in general, CEO's are currently being very conservative in their CFO hiring decisions. It hasn't been this tight in years. If you are a rock climber, put in a lot of protection and don't try anything fancy. These are slippery times. If you are a sailor, run your crew tight and don't try any magic tacks - it is a conservative CFO market. Very good article indeed.
