- Assessments are taxes
Pitt doesn't seem to understand an economic basic when he warns about having a tax-funded agency vs. one funded by assessments on public corporations. A tax is a tax. Assessments on public corporations are simply an indirect tax on the consumers of the corporation's products which raise the price of the products. The end consumer always pays any tax levied.
