As I watch the debate around healthcare this year versus 1994, it is interesting that employers have been relatively silent until very recently regarding reform. As an ex-CEO of the largest region for a major insurer and a 25 year consultant both in the US and abroad, I offer up a primer on the issues and opportunities for fixing the system. One thing is for certain, when we speak of market forces, we are speaking of employers who cover 180M Americans. It is a reluctant market force and needs to stand up now and define what it wants to see come out of Congress.
