Many new technologies are emerging that bring down costs, eliminate CAPEX, and also provide a whole host of other benefits to CFOs. While "virtualization" is spoken of in the article in terms of servers, there is another "virtualization" aspect out there that can save organizations money without CAPEX investment: workforce virtualization through SaaS-based solutions. Since these solutions are commonly pay-as-you-go, they hit OPEX, not CAPEX, and are normally much less expensive than traditional, premise-based solutions. With these financial advantages also comes the ability to have your workforce work from any where, at any time, which means less overhead and greater 24/7 coverage. And many of these solutions are network-based, which provides an inherent business continuity plan (see blog post: Cloud-based Business Communications Services are Inherently Resilient ).
