Your comments on preventive measures are speculative ("...thanks to such flagrant signals" like "...living beyond ones' means, (and) in financial difficulties when they committed fraud") are known AFTER a fraud event. Tips from employees, customers, vendors are effective because these groups KNOW the business processes the best, especially when something is amiss!
