CFOs React: Idaho Asphalt Supply's Blair Sellers Talk about getting caught between a rock and a hard place: a spike in supply costs and in the cost of capital needed to pay for them.

Asphalt

That is a significant jump in the price of Asphalt. Has the company also increased the selling price for the product? If so, i would imagine that the second option, although a bit more expensive, would prove better. you would be able to tap the AR and inventory parts of your balance sheet and have that extra borrowing to get you through the months of no revenue. I would assume that you are still receiving cash during those months based upon sales from the preceeding periods.

Good luck in the decision.

Small business squeeze

I have to agree with Sellers. Currently the lending environment makes re-working any debt financing nearly impossible.

While keeping what is in place an right sizing the company is not how to expand and grow, it is exactly what is needed to survive.

Good luck to those in similar situations, otherwise you may need more than luck.
