Good to see recognition of importance of Green building

Some stats from Quirks & Quarks a weekly CBC radio broadcast. 40% of all greenhouse gas emissions in North America originate from our homes and buildings. Of that 40%, 60% of emissions relate to heating and cooling of space. If we want to make a meaningful impact on Greenhouse gas emissions, we can address roughly a quarter of the problem through building more efficient buildings. There are some very economically viable building technologies available to support the effort. The resultant reduced operating costs for buildings, should provide operating benefits for landlords and tenants alike.

Big Polluter's

Great post Marie. The popularity of green buildings, for whatever reason, is a fantastic trend on all fronts. The good thing is the benefits that result in sustainable architecture are bundled together and it doesn't even matter why they were implemented. You should look at a video my client posted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkbUeuLbw40 . The American Institute of Architects have been posting to their blog all week from the Republican National Convention, and they are raising awareness for the fact that commercial buildings are the single largest polluter to our environment. The campaign is targeted at both politicians and the general public, and it' really interesting.
